Butter, room temperature | 1 cup |
Sugar | 1 cup + 2 tablespoons |
Egg, room temperature | 1 |
Milk | 1 tablespoon |
Vanilla extract | 1 teaspoon |
Flour, all-purpose | 2 ¾ cups |
Baking powder | 1 teaspoon |
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat.
- Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla.
- Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture.
- Make balls from the dough, using a soup spoon to measure.
- Flatten the dough balls with a glass bottom that has been coated with sugar (2 tablespoons in a bowl).
Note: Press the glass into the dough initially so that the sugar sticks to the bottom of the glass. - Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
